New Map from MBLC Displays Libraries with Wi-Fi Hotspots Available for Check-out

Nov 17, 2021

As MHAC reported in a previous post, libraries across the state have made Wi-Fi hotspots available to loan out. The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) created a map so people can see which specific libraries have the devices that people can checkout.

Adults that are Massachusetts residents with a library card from a Massachusetts library in good standing can borrow a hot spot from any library offering one. MHAC encourages councils on aging and communities working to become age- and dementia friendly to promote the opportunity for older adults who could use the hotspots for a variety of benefits and uses. Age-and dementia friendly partners with digital literacy programs for older adults may consider a partnership with the libraries listed on the map for those who have devices, but may not have internet access.

MBLC also has a survey available for individuals that checkout a hotspot to learn about people’s experiences here.
