La Alianza Hispana

Commitment to advancing healthy aging:

la Alianza Hispana enables vulnerable Latino seniors to age in place. It addresses key elements of seniors’ independence: maintaining health, accessing services, social connections, community opportunities, employment when appropriate, aging in place, and supporting family. In addition, La Alianza Hispana addresses risk factors unique to immigrant seniors: cultural-competency, replacing extended family, alienation due to dislocation, and navigating US social services. LAH is the only culturally-competent day health program in Boston for Latino seniors. We also provides three evidence-based health education/prevention programs to maximize independence and improve health:1.Tomando Control de su Salud: Spanish version of Stanford’s Chronic Disease Self-Management Program; 6-week workshop. 2. A Matter of Balance: reduces fear of falling and increases activity
services that help to develop work skills.
