Commitment to advancing healthy aging:

(1) The coalition will offer free Elder Education Events on identity theft prevention and recovery to members and community partners of Mass Healthy Aging Collaborative in all regions of the Commonwealth.
Our Elder Education training will provide the following information:
– Definition of identity theft, scam & data breach
– How to safeguard against identity theft & scams
– Signs that your identity may have been stolen
– Steps to recover from identity theft & scams
– Methods of scams & common scams

(2) The coalition will offer free Elder Advocate Training to members and community partners of Mass Healthy Aging Collaborative in all regions of the Commonwealth.
Our Elder Advocate Training will provide Advocates with the following knowledge:
– The advocate’s role and responsibilities
– Tips for creating a victim-centered approach
– Identifying the type of fraud
– Setting realistic expectations
– Steps to take immediately to stop and repair the damage caused by identity theft
– Assessing additional safety concerns that arise out of identity theft
– Recovery is also about health
– Steps to help connect victims with existing networks of agencies
– Identity theft prevention tips
– Potential civil options for victims of identity theft
