8-80 Cities Releases ‘Winter Cities Toolkit’ to Create Inclusive Public Spaces

Jan 27, 2021

With the Shared Winter Streets and Spaces grant opportunity from MassDOT still in play, another resource has emerged to help communities create inclusive public spaces during the winter months.

8-80 Cities, an organization dedicated to creating equitable communities for people of all ages, released the Winter Cities Toolkit, which is full of helpful resources.

The tools include:

  • Best practices in helping newcomers adapt to winter
  • Best practices in public Fire Pit policies
  • Best practices in snow management policies
  • Winter Life surveys

These tools are a compliment to the Age-Friendly Winter Spaces Guide, created by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, Mass Healthy Aging Collaborative and WalkBoston. Age and Dementia Friendly stakeholders can find this and many other ideas and guides on MHAC’s resource page, “Age Friendly Winter Spaces: Ideas for Municipalities to Embrace Winter.”
