November is National Family Caregivers Month

Nov 5, 2025

Many national organizations are offering data an information to recognize National Family Caregiver Month in November. Helping to lead the awareness-raising efforts is the Caregiver Action Network with the 2025 theme, which is “Plug-in to Care.” This year’s theme focuses on connection—helping caregivers easily “plug in” to vital support tools, trusted networks, and educational resources that can make the caregiving journey less overwhelming and more supported.

According to the report “Caregiving in the US 2025” from the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC), the number of family caregivers has grown by nearly 50% over the last decade, now totaling 63 million adults nationwide. These 63 million caregivers provide $600 billion in unpaid care each year. NAC also released a recent report called, Not Just Visitors: Integrating Family Caregivers in Care Delivery and Design,” revealing the critical gaps between the immense value caregivers provide and the systemic support they receive. The report outlines actionable strategies to move beyond acknowledgment to meaningful integration of caregivers as vital members of the care team.

The Caregiver Action Network is hosting a webinar series with each session intended to spotlight a key area of caregiving and share practical tools, peer insights, and expert advice to help caregivers connect to  resources. A full list of resources, including social media tools and sample letters to the editor are available here from NAC.

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) also offers social media tools for raising awareness and sharing caregiving stories. NCOA is also collecting caregiving “stories of impact” via this form.

During an event on November 3rd hosted by the Massachusetts Caregiver Coalition, several employers, policy leaders and innovators were recognized for work supporting caregivers in the workplace and a proclamation from Governor Healey was read recognizing National Family Caregivers Month.
