The Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative contributed a blog post on Technology as a Social Determinant of Health for the Age-Friendly Public Health Systems initiative run by Trust for America’s Health. In the process, MHAC highlighted the great work being done by several partners in the statewide healthy aging network.

As part of the learning series for those engaged in Age-Friendly Public Health Systems,  MHAC was also able to present on the topic and was joined by Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC). Both the blog and presentation call out technology as cross-cutting through several recognized social determinants of health and, with that in mind, the opportunity to address a range of issues impacting older adults.

MHAC and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs convene a Technology Learning Collaborative for Healthy Aging, which will meet virtually on June 21st (register here). This group, which originated from the Task Force to End Loneliness and Build Community led by AARP and UMass-Boston, offers presentations on programs and opportunities to improve technology access for older adults.

MHAC also contributed to a report that will be released on June 29th as was led by MassINC and the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership.
