Age-Friendly Funding Alert: MassDevelopment, MassMobility, Dept. of Conservation & Recreation

Jun 24, 2020

The Mass. Healthy Aging Collaborative reminds age-friendly communities and other stakeholders that several opportunities exist around creating “shared streets and spaces,” as the state works to reopen amidst COVID-19. Please see our previous blog post for more information on this set of funding opportunities, as well as others to support communities for all ages below:

MassDevelopment’s “Commonwealth Places” is a competitive opportunity to advance locally-driven placemaking in downtown and neighborhood commercial districts in eligible communities throughout Massachusetts. Placemaking is a collaborative process through which people in communities work together to improve public spaces and maximize their shared value. The process facilitates creative patterns of use, and leverages the local physical, cultural, and social assets that define a place and support its ongoing evolution.

More info on Commonwealth Places is available here.

Thanks to our partners at MassMobility for sharing another strong list of funding opportunities to improve community transportation.

This includes the Community Transit Grant Program from MassDOT, Community Mobility Design Challenge from the National Center for Mobility Management, Tufts Health Plan Foundation’s Policy and Advocacy grants.

  • DCR: Partnership Matching Funds Program

Partnerships Matching Funds is a unique annual DCR program. External partners identify needed improvements in their parks and donate funds which are matched by DCR. The improvements must be on DCR property and can include improved accessibility and other improvements to parks, playgrounds and trails.

More information on the DCR Partnership Matching Funds Program is available here.
