Age-Friendly Funding Alert: MassDOT Community Transit Grant Program

Apr 12, 2023

MassDOT’s annual Community Transit Grant Program (CTGP) offers funding for transit authorities, municipalities, Councils on Aging, and nonprofits to expand mobility for older adults and people with disabilities.

Register for a training on May 5 (10-noon) or May 8 (1-3PM) to learn about applying for funding through MassDOT’s Community Transit Grant Program. Applications for operating and mobility management projects will open May 8 and close June 23.

Contact Rachel.L.Fichtenbaum@dot.state.ma.us or (857) 368-8584 to register for one of the two virtual training sessions.

The Community Transit Grant Program funds projects to expand mobility for older adults and people with disabilities. Eligible applicants include Councils on Aging, transit authorities, municipalities, and nonprofits. Eligible projects include operating a transportation service where public transit is unavailable, or “mobility management” activities, which could include staff to help people learn about and learn to use transportation options, coordination efforts to streamline transportation options, or software to expand mobility.

The Community Transit Grant Program usually also funds wheelchair-accessible vehicles, but this year the vehicle cycle will be held separately later in 2023.
