The Community Transit Grant Program funds projects to expand mobility for older adults and people with disabilities. Eligible applicants include Councils on Aging, transit authorities, municipalities, and nonprofits. Eligible projects include operating a transportation service where public transit is unavailable, or “mobility management” activities, which could include staff to help people learn about and learn to use transportation options, coordination efforts to streamline transportation options, or software to expand mobility.
The Community Transit Grant Program usually also funds wheelchair-accessible vehicles, but this year the vehicle cycle will be held separately later in 2023.
