Age-Friendly Funding Alert: MBI Hosting Info Session on Residential Retrofit Grant Program

Jun 18, 2025

The Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) invites you to attend an informational webinar on Wednesday, June 25 at 1:00 p.m. to learn about a grant program that brings affordable, high-quality internet to residents living in public and affordable housing.

The Residential Retrofit Program is a $70+ million program that brings state-of-the-art broadband infrastructure to residents who need it most. The program modernizes our state’s public and affordable housing stock to deliver strong internet connection directly to residents’ households. As you well know, a reliable internet connection is crucial in today’s digital world.

The Retrofit program enables housing operators to:

  • Futureproof their buildings with state-of-the-art broadband infrastructure
  • Provide affordable, high-quality internet service to residents
  • Unlock eligibility for complementary grant funding through RANGE, which are direct grants to housing operators to support adoption of the new internet service

Funded by the ARPA Capital Projects Fund investment, the program covers all capital expenses. Work must be completed by the end of 2026. So far, there are over 90 housing operators representing almost 700 properties enrolled in the program – but there is room for more! Operators must enroll in the program by July 31.

Reserve your spot to attend the informational webinar by registering through Zoom. Registrants will receive slides and a video recording afterwards.
