MetroBridge is a program of Boston University that pairs students with communities and organizations looking for support on projects and initiatives. Students provide research and analysis and embeds the research questions and needs of municipalities and community organizations into existing courses at BU, enlisting students and faculty as allies in addressing local issues.
MetroBridge has announced a call for local governments and community organizations to submit project ideas for the Spring 2026 semester. MetroBridge has supported a number of age- and dementia friendly initiatives, including research for the Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative.
BU MetroBridge staff assist with project scoping and development, matching courses for each project, providing project management support, and ensuring effective communication between Boston University and project liaisons. At the end of each semester, students present their work to the partner, and the MetroBridge team coordinates the development of final deliverables, which may include a report, a memo, slides, and/or other deliverables specific to the project.
