CHAPA Seeking New Communities for Municipal Engagement Initiative – Deadline August 20th

Aug 16, 2018

There is just one week left to apply to be a Municipal Engagement Community through the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA).

CHAPA’s Municipal Engagement Initiative seeks to build support for affordable housing production in communities across the Commonwealth and could benefit communities seeking to become Age-Friendly.

CHAPA’s Municipal Engagement staff works with local municipalities and community groups to conduct public education efforts in support of housing production, with an emphasis on affordable housing. Strategies will be developed to work within the context of each community.

While all communities will benefit from public education and community discussions about the need for housing development and how it benefits communities economically, each community is unique in its character, land, zoning, and housing stock. Coalition building at the local level will bring together stakeholders representing local businesses, civic groups, houses of worship, and other groups and individuals that are active in each community.

CHAPA is currently seeking new communities under the Municipal Engagement Initiative. Both Municipal Governments and Community Organizations are encouraged to apply.

Complete applications must be submitted via email to Dana LeWinter, Municipal Engagement Director, at dlewinter@chapa.org.

The deadline for submission has been extended to 5 PM on Monday, August 20, 2018.  To learn more about the Initiative and to obtain an application, please go to CHAPA’s Municipal Engagement Initiative webpage or contact Dana LeWinter at dlewinter@chapa.org or 617-742-0820 x102.
