At the recent quarterly Statewide Network Meeting, MHAC was joined by the Mass. Department of Public Health to promote data availability from the Community Health Equity Survey (CHES). The community-based survey aimed to collect data on social and structural determinants of health with a specific focus on communities experiencing health inequities.
The survey was administered in 11 written languages and ASL and was open to residents ages 14 and older living in Massachusetts. Roughly 18,500 responses were received by DPH, including 5,675 from adults ages 60-84. The Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative encourages communities working to be more age- and dementia friendly to use the data for advocacy, action-planning, and grant proposals – among other things.
