The Executive Office of Elder Affairs announced that 20 organizations representing 79 communities across the Commonwealth were awarded the Supportive and Social Day Program Expansion Grant. Funded by American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), the grant program is designed to broaden Supportive and Social Day Program capacity, enhance culturally tailored program options, and bolster dementia-friendly infrastructure across Massachusetts.
The awardees include 6 planning grants, 10 program expansions, and 4 new programs and represent diversity across several components, including:
- Serving rural communities and Gateway Cities.
- Offering services and supports in languages other than English, including Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Chinese, Spanish, and American Sign Language (ASL).
- Representing almost all counties across the Commonwealth.
- Demonstrating innovative service delivery models to meet the needs of their community. Many program expansions/launches include funding for transportation, programming, and/or a new physical space.
