March is Senior Nutrition Month – Resources, Information and Materials Are Available

Mar 12, 2025

March is Senior Nutrition Month and the Administration for Community Living (ACL) celebrates the anniversary of the Senior Nutrition Program and its many accomplishments at the national and local levels. ACL promotes how nutrition services help people stay independent as they age, and highlight critical senior nutrition issues.

The 2025 theme, A Place at the Table, recognizes the importance of local nutrition programs and the meals being served in communities across the country. ACL, its partners, and local programs can use this theme and the resources below to highlight several key topics, like the benefits of getting to know your community and program participants and how coming together over meals can improve health and well-being.

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Aging & Independence has information here on the Senior Nutrition Program in Massachusetts. Additionally, Massachusetts Councils on Aging (MCOA) has a webpage with resources dedicated to nutrition and active aging here.

For communities working to become more age- and dementia friendly, AARP Livable Communities released examples from across the country of cities and towns that have used the AARP Community Challenge Grant to address hunger and food access.
