Memory Cafe Alliance Launched by Dementia Friendly America

Mar 26, 2025

The Memory Cafe Alliance, hosted by Dementia Friendly America, has just launched several free resources with the goal of increasing the number of Memory Cafes in the US tenfold over the next decade.

Memory Cafes are welcoming social gatherings for people living with cognitive changes or dementia at any stage, along with the people who care about them – including family members, friends, and professional caregivers. Cafes provide a time to socialize and participate in meaningful and joyful programming.

The new resources include the following:

  • National Memory Cafe directory, hosted by Dementia Friendly America: www.memorycafedirectory.com  Search Memory Cafes by town or zip code. One click will give you a PDF list of Cafes in the person’s area. Social media promo here.
  • Free, online, self-paced training for those who want to start or enhance a Memory Cafe. We welcome anyone to create a free profile at www.memorycafedirectory.com, and watch this training to learn how to run a Memory Cafe, about dementia and caregiving for the Memory Cafe context, and facilitation best practices.

This press release provides more detail about how this training will help to build the Memory Cafe movement. Social media promo here.
