Public officials recently gathered for a groundbreaking at the site of a former school in Hyde Park that will eventually transform into 74 mixed-income rental units intended for LGBTQ people ages 62 and older.

Pennrose and the nonprofit group LGBTQ Senior Housing are leading the project, called the “Pryde,” which is said to be the first LGBTQ-Friendly affordable senior housing in New England. The project leaders cite a high need for LGBTQ-friendly housing because LGBTQ seniors are less likely to have children or a family network to provide support.
