Salem for All Ages, the age-friendly initiative in Salem, Mass. that recently released its Year 5 Progress Report, is featured in a community spotlight by AARP.

The feature notes Salem’s accomplishments, including the launch of the Salem Skipper, an on-demand, low-cost rideshare service operated by the city, the passage in 2021 of an ordinance allowing accessory dwelling units (or ADUs), and securing a grant to conduct an accessibility plan for the city.

The feature is a great example of age-friendly efforts and shows what is possible with buy-in from local leadership and the commitment of local organizations and volunteers.
