Age-Friendly Funding Alert: MassWorks Infrastructure Program

Governor Charlie Baker recently announced the opening of the ninth annual MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant award round. This is an opportunity for Age-Friendly communities that have identified built environment projects in their goals.

The 2019 MassWorks grant round will fund projects that empower transformative housing and development that support the long-term vitality of Massachusetts, with a particular focus on projects that enable the production of multi-family housing in mixed-use, transit-serviced districts, and projects that spur economic development in struggling communities. Toolkit for Intergenerational Programming in Senior Housing Released by LTSS Center @UMass Boston

Age-Friendly Communities interested in bringing intergenerational programming into senior housing now have a new toolkit from the LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston and Generations United.

The Connecting Generations in Senior Housing: A Program Implementation Toolkit was supported by a grant from the Retirement Research Foundation (RRF) and provides practical information, guidance, and templates to help senior housing providers, and other organizations serving older adults, implement high-quality intergenerational programs that will benefit elders and young people in their communities.

Applications Open for 2019 Housing Choice Designation

The online application is available for the 2019 round to designate Housing Choice Communities, according to the Housing Choice webpage on Mass.gov and the Mass. Municipal Association. This initiative presents an opportunity for communities seeking to become more Age-Friendly that identify “housing” as an area of need.

The Housing Choice Initiative assists local governments to expand housing production by providing new grants, coordinating technical assistance across various housing agencies, and promoting regulatory innovation. Continue reading
