‘The Parks & Affordable Housing Guidebook’ Released by Trust for Public Land

Nov 4, 2026

The Parks & Affordable Housing Guidebook developed by Trust for Public Land and Enterprise Community Partners, helps define an emerging field of practice at the intersection of parks, affordable housing, land use, and community development. It shows how communities can align investments and decision-making to support stronger neighborhoods, protect community stability, and advance shared community well-being.

The guidebook offers a practical action framework for aligning parks and affordable housing through policy, planning, funding, partnerships, design, and long-term stewardship. This is another resource that may be helpful to communities working to become more age- and dementia friendly and focused on housing and public spaces.

Primary audiences include:

  • Affordable housing developers, housing authorities, and mission-driven development entities
  • Parks, open space, and other public land agencies and partners
  • Community-based organizations, resident leaders, and advocates
  • Public, private, and mission-driven funders; philanthropic organizations; social impact funds; community development financial institutions; and intermediaries
