Upcoming Events in Healthy Aging

May 4, 2022

Check out the following upcoming events that help support inclusive age- and dementia friendly communities:

  • Human Service Transportation Listening Sessions (Virtual): May 16th and 18th

Have you used PT-1 or other Human Service Transportation (HST) services since July 1, 2021? If so, share your feedback with the Human Service Transportation (HST) Office at an upcoming Virtual Public Listening Session. HST transportation is coordinated by two brokers: the Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART) and the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA). New contracts with MART and GATRA went into effect on July 1, 2021. These new contracts introduced new technologies to improve customer service, such as smart phone apps and self-service web portals to facilitate scheduling rides and reporting complaints. Members and consumers are invited to join virtual public listening sessions to share their experience with HST services through MART and GATRA since the new contracts were implemented on July 1, 2021:

Join Encore Boston Network for their fifth Age-Friendly Employer Forum to meet representatives from employers who have taken specific steps to become more age-friendly. They will describe the types of jobs they have available and why they value people over 50 in their workplaces.

Over the past decade, the ACL-funded Transit Planning 4 All program has promoted the development and dissemination of best practices in transit planning inclusive of people with disabilities and older adults. A major component of these efforts is funding a series of demonstration projects , each seeking to increase inclusion in transportation planning. Transit Planning 4 All is launching an online roundtable series with representatives from these demonstration projects to discuss the lessons learned to date.

The first roundtable is titled Lessons Learned on Partnerships for Inclusive Transit Planning and will feature, among others, Easter Seals Massachusetts.
