- Learn How to Design for All Ages – AARP Livable Communities Workshop, two-day virtual event on Oct. 16th and 17th
AARP Livable Communities is hosting a two-day free, virtual workshop that will explore four core themes — Housing, Transportation, Public Spaces, and Community Engagement — and share innovative solutions and best practices to design places that benefit people of all ages and abilities.
The virtual event will take place on October 16th and 17th.
The workshop aims to support local efforts within the core themes by:
- Developing (and redeveloping) a housing stock that meets the needs of individuals throughout their life span to allow them to age in place
- Ensuring that communities are healthy and well-connected with safe streets and accessible transit
- Providing vibrant, multigenerational parks and public spaces that have the power to foster community interaction
- Recognizing the value of community engagement strategies that ensure all lived experiences are valued and contribute to the decision-making process
Community partners are invited to join for both days or just one of the two. A single registration provides access for whatever your schedule allows. Session videos will be available after the event and will be announced through the AARP Livable Communities Newsletter.
More information and registration is available here.
- “Let’s Talk about Dementia and Culture 2024,” hosted by Dementia Friends Massachusetts, October 29, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (virtual)
This year’s theme is: Brain Health for All Communities. Join researchers, advocates living with dementia, public health leaders, and community-based dementia educators as we explore current evidence-based tips for brain health, how these link to the structural and social determinants of health, and what research and life experience tell us about continuing to live well with a dementia diagnosis. Register in advance on Zoom here. Attendance is free. CEUs will be available for a fee – check here for updates. Simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, and captions in English and most other languages available. Contact Beth at bsoltzberg@jfcsboston.org with questions.
