AARP Creates ‘Community Connections’ Site to Help Find or Start Mutual Aid Groups

Mar 25, 2020

AARP has created the Community Connections website to help communities, local organizations, and volunteer groups to stay connected, share ideas, and help those most affected by the Coronavirus. Whether you want to start a group, find a group, or get assistance yourself, the AARP directory can help you connect with people in your community.

A part of this site was developed to help address social isolation and offer virtual volunteer opportunities. It includes a component to capture contact information from people who would like to receive a friendly check-in call from an AARP volunteer. In just one weekend, more than 400 volunteers have signed up to make calls. These “friendly voices” will serve many older adults who are feeling isolated and need help.

To learn more about the site please visit https://aarpcommunityconnections.org/, and please feel free to share this information with your constituents.
