The Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative is pleased to promote the following funding opportunities to advance inclusive age- and dementia friendly communities:
- Municipal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Improvement Grant Program, The Massachusetts Office on Disability, (MOD) – submission period opens August 1
Eligible applicants for ADA Improvement Grants include any Massachusetts city or town. These grants will support capital improvements specifically dedicated to improving programmatic access and/or removing barriers encountered by persons with disabilities in applicant facilities throughout the Commonwealth. Grants will be awarded to successful applicants to remove barriers and create and improve accessible features and programmatic access for persons with disabilities throughout the Commonwealth.

REMINDERS on previous Age/Dementia Friendly Funding Opportunities:
- Alzheimer’s Disease Programs Initiative (ADPI) – States and Community Grants, Administration for Community Living (deadline Aug.7th)
Cooperative agreements under the ADPI funding opportunity announcement (FOA), are intended to support and promote the development and expansion of dementia-capable home and community-based service (HCBS) systems in States and Communities.
Relevant to communities, Cooperative agreements (36 month cooperative agreements) are available to private and/or public community-based organizations (CBO) that are able to: 1) demonstrate their operation within an existing dementia-capable HCBS system dedicated to the population that they serve; and 2) articulate opportunities and additional services in the targeted gap areas that would enhance and strengthen the existing system. Option B cooperative agreements are designed to aid community-based HCBS providers in addressing three specific service gaps in existing dementia-capable HCBS systems for persons living with or those at high risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) and their caregivers.

- Community Mobility Design Challenge 2023, Federal Transit Administration/National Center for Mobility Management (deadline, Aug. 4)
The Federal Transit Administration-sponsored National Center for Mobility Management is now accepting applications for the Community Mobility Design Challenge 2023. The goal of these grants is to enable multi-sector community teams to develop promising mobility solutions that are inspired and informed by the results of community research. The Community Mobility Design Challenge offers up to $25,000 in funding and intensive technical assistance throughout the grant to enable multi-sector community teams to develop mobility solutions. Applications are due by August 4, 2023.
- “Our Town” Creative Placemaking Grants, National Endowment for the Arts (deadline Aug. 3)
Our Town is the National Endowment for the Arts’ (NEA) creative placemaking grants program. Through project-based funding, the program supports activities that integrate arts, culture, and design into local efforts that strengthen communities over the long term. Our Town projects engage a wide range of local stakeholders in efforts to advance local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes in communities. Competitive projects are responsive to unique local conditions, authentically engage communities, center equity, advance artful lives, and lay the groundwork for long-term systems change. These projects have a required partnership component. Grants range from $25,000 to $150,000, with a minimum nonfederal cost share/match equal to the grant amount.
