In this web seminar, participants will learn about the NCEA’s Reframing Elder Abuse project; review a new evidence-based public communication strategy for elder abuse; and begin learning how to apply this strategy to their communication practices.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:
·         Describe the communication traps that many advocates in aging fall into when communicating about elder abuse with the public;
·         Understand a new and effective public communication strategy on elder abuse, grounded in the findings of the FrameWorks Institute, an organization that conducts communications research; and
·         Understand how to replicate a new and effective public communication strategy for addressing and preventing elder abuse.

Presenters:
Alyssa Neumann is a project coordinator for the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA), a national elder abuse resource center funded by the U.S. Administration on Aging. She has more than five years of experience supporting public service organizations with communications, event coordination, and internal operations.

Julie Schoen, an attorney experienced in Medicare advocacy and who is now focusing on elder abuse, is the deputy director of the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) at USC’s Keck School of Medicine.
