Health care organizations recognize social determinants of health and their influence on community well-being and health care costs, but a trio of Boston teaching hospitals are teaming up to go beyond recognition to offer focused funding support to one key social challenge.
As reported in the Boston Globe, the Boston Business Journal and other outlets, Boston Medical Center (BMC) is working with Boston Children’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital to contribute roughly $3 million over three years. BMC and other hospitals across the state were also noted for their previous contributions to housing in a 2018 report from WBUR.
This trend is encouraging for Age-Friendly Communities looking to gain support for local housing initiatives.
