Falls Prevention Awareness Week is Sept. 22-26

Sep 17, 2025

Falls Prevention Awareness Week is a national health campaign beginning on the first day of fall to increase awareness around falls health and injury prevention.

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) and Massachusetts Falls Prevention Coalition, hosted at the Department of Public Health, have resources to help communities and partners raise awareness.

Nationally, NCOA has a toolkit for Falls Prevention Week with resources for social media use, traditional media outreach, videos and advocacy tools. Massachusetts has other resources and data available here.

Additionally, communities working to become more age- and dementia friendly can raise awareness of local programs that may be available at councils on aging and elsewhere. Communities can also address falls by advancing “Age-Friendly Walking” and pedestrian safety through resources from our partners at WalkMassachusetts.
