In a letter to the state’s Reopening Advisory Board, the Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative urged the group to include and consider older adults as it creates recommendations and strategies to reopen the economy.
Governor Baker announced the creation of the Reopening Advisory Board on April 28th with recommendations due on May 18th that will align with recently announced phases based on health and safety metrics.
The MHAC comments are centered around that economic and housing focus for the Board and outline several key points.
- Ensuring access for older shoppers
- Support caregivers of older adults
- Workforce opportunity (for older adults and those supporting older adults)
- Housing protections
- Community Compact Program
MHAC encourages its network and partners to review the letter and submit comments that are supportive of older adults on the Board’s online feedback form here.
