Tufts Health Plan Foundation, Boston Age Strong Commission Receive Golden Shoe Award from WalkBoston

Sep 30, 2020

WalkBoston virtually presented their annual ‘Golden Shoe’ awards to those that advanced their mission of creating safe and walkable environments for all and, this year, those honorees included the Tufts Health Plan Foundation and Boston’s Age Strong Commission.

WalkBoston stated:

“The Tufts Health Plan Foundation gave WalkBoston its start in age-friendly work by supporting our Boston Age-Friendly Walking program. This program yielded many successes including new benches and senior-focused, open streets events. With your continued support, we have expanded our age-friendly walking efforts across the state to make walking safer for people of all ages in rural towns and gateway cities.”

The Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative encourages communities working to become more age and dementia friendly to consider WalkBoston’s Age-Friendly Walking policies and infrastructure improvements as well as the Age Strong Commission’s Age-Friendly Walking Best Practices.
