Upcoming Virtual Events for Mass. Healthy Aging Collaborative Network: Mass Business Roundtable, Dementia Care Collaborative

Jun 10, 2020

The Mass. Healthy Aging Collaborative encourages those in our network to join the following upcoming events:

  • Mass Business Roundtable: “Caring for the Caregiver: Addressing Caregiver Challenges Associated with Alzheimer’s & Dementia during COVID-19”

You and members of your team are invited to attend a free webinar on Thursday, June 25th, 2:00-3:00 pm, as part of our series supporting employees who are providing volunteer caregiving services to loved ones during COVID-19. June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, and there are currently 16 million Americans providing volunteer care for people suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementias. We are pleased to convene this important conversation featuring a panel of experts sharing stories and resources to help family caregivers.

The Roundtable helped launch the Massachusetts Caregiver Coalition to better understand and address the needs of family caregivers, a growing and essential part of workforces across every industry sector. This is the third event in our free webinar series focused on raising awareness and providing practical guides for family caregivers.

  • Dementia Care Collaborative: “Being with Others Is Good Medicine: How Virtual Memory Cafés Can Help”

The Dementia Care Collaborative continues to offer monthly educational series, “Conversations with Caregivers” virtually.

Please join them on Tuesday, June 16th at 5:30pm for “Being with Others Is Good Medicine: How Virtual Memory Cafés Can Help” presented by our featured guest, Beth Soltzberg, Director, Alzheimer’s/Related Disorders Family Support Program, Jewish Family & Children’s Service.

Beth will share a bit about what we know about the risk of social isolation and loneliness to our health, how COVID-19 has exacerbated this isolation, and how we can find ways to support ourselves during this time, especially with Memory Cafés. We will explore what a memory café is, who it is for, what happens there, what the benefits are and what it is like to attend a virtual café.

Please email Dementia Care Collaborative’s Program Coordinator Norie Mozzone at nmozzone@mgh.harvard.edu or call 617-724-0406 to let Norie know if you will be joining.
