The Older Veteran Behavioral Health Resource Inventory, released by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), provides information on resources to help health and social service professionals support older veterans and other older adults who have or are at risk for behavioral health conditions.
This inventory provides an overview of programs and publications on a range of topics:
- VA benefits
- Cross-diagnostic clinical resources
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Substance use disorders
- Smoking and tobacco user treatment
- Pain management
- Suicide prevention
- Health promotion and disease prevention
- Long-term services and supports
- Clinician education
Additionally, AARP’s Livable Communities team shared a blog post with resources on home modification support for veterans.
Communities working to become more age- and dementia friendly can promote these resources to support older veterans and service providers that support older veterans.
