Age-Friendly Funding Alert: Shared Streets & Spaces, Commonwealth Places, Mass Cultural Council

The Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative is excited to promote a fourth round of the Shared Streets & Spaces Grant Program from the Mass. Department of Transportation (MassDOT).

The program, which awards bonus points for projects that are inclusive of older adults,  provides funding to municipalities and public transit authorities to quickly implement improvements to plazas, sidewalks, curbs, streets, bus stops, parking areas, and other public spaces in support of public health, safe mobility, and strengthened commerce. Age-Friendly Funding Alert: MAPC, National Assembly of State Arts Agencies

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (“MAPC”) in partnership with MassDevelopment, has developed this state-wide Taxi/Livery Partnership Grant program to provide funding for grantees to contract with taxicab, livery, or hackney businesses for transportation and delivery needs for the Commonwealth’s vulnerable populations and others.  Continue reading

AARP: Pop-Up Recipes for Parklets and Bike Lanes

Bicycle lanes and parklets are fun, easy and popular pop-up projects. There are many ways to create a demonstration bike lane. Parklets — which are essentially parking spots for people rather than cars — can be created with little more than paint, plywood and some decorative accessories.
